Swiss Statistics Meeting 2018

The Swiss Statistics Meeting connects Statistician in and around Switzerland, working for public statistics, business and industries as well as education and research. In 2018, they take place in Zürich.

The theme of the 2018 meeting is "Statistics and Emotions". Between August 27 and 29, 2018, well-known local and international personalities from the world of statistics in general, from private industries and the sciences, from politics and culture, will debate these themes. Several open ateliers, posters and a hackathon provide the stage for an even larger exchange of thoughts.


For the ateliers and the poster session, we are looking for your contribution. Would you like to share your results, your examples, your new methodological insight or concepts, or to illustrate possibilities regarding the communication of statistics, then please send us your abstract. This is a special call for all you working in the private sector and the academic / science world: let us ensure that we cover the whole width of the Swiss Statistical Society.

Papers can be presented in French, German or English. The title of the presentation you send us will determine the language that it is given in. Once contributed, you cannot change the title anymore. Contributions that have links with the overall theme of the meeting will have priority in the selection.

Your contribution can be submitted in one of two ways:

  • 20 minute presentation (15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes for questions)
  • Poster presentations

Lambert Award for Young Statisticians 2018

The Swiss Statistical Society (SSS) has established since 2013 the Johann Heinrich Lambert Award to recognise the work of young statisticians. The Lambert Award consists of a certificate and 1000 Swiss Francs. It entitles to a plenary talk at the Swiss Statistics Meeting in 2018 (Monday August 27 to Wednesday August 29) at the University of Zurich.
